AFC Wimbledon secured their first win of the season, but had been given a scare by Rochdale in a 3-2 Sky Bet League One win.
Each of the hosts goals came in the first half because the Dons won in 12 efforts for the first time.
They made the perfect start as they took the lead with two minutes on the clock, Marcus Forss lashing home a volley.
A second arrived after 16 minutes when Paul Osew who tapped into his first goal for the club was picked out by Scott Wagstaffs precise centre.
It got better just before the half-hour mark once the hosts made it 3-0, Mitchell Pinnock obtaining the goal into the bottom corner with a fine strike.
Dale offered up moving forwards in the first half were given a crumb of trust midway through the moment.
Prior to doubling his tally with a close-range header in stoppage time veteran forward Ian Henderson notched his fifth of the season, however, it was too little, too late.
